about essence
What exactly does "essence" mean? Essence is the unchanging nature of a thing or class of things. In how I see it, it means that essence is when something is kept natural in behavior and any other things that it applies to.
I named this site Essence because I had rather liked the sound of it when I first chose it as one of my many other selected names. I had others vote for the name they wanted, but now that I think back, Essence was the one that actually could make sense. While writing my stories, I try to keep in tact, and never direct it away from reality besides any magical events in the stories or if the story itself is suppose to involve magical powers and such. Having realistic aspects in my writings is what I believe in.
The idea of a fanfiction site was made on January 1st, 2006. Essence was created on the 10th of January. Essence's first host was Kylosa.com (no longer online). Due to the fact that the site was down for quite a while (for the second time), I decided to move to a new host. I searched through domains and asked for any places where I could possibly get free hosting. I found ificouldfly.net and sent in a form for hosting on and was accepted on March 30, 06. Essence have since moved to bubble.nu on November 15th, 2010.
layout
This layout is actually very simple. The original artwork done by the wonderful kaninnvven was already very pleasing to the eye and looked well as a layout on its own. All I did was use some selective color on the image, edit the image so that it blended in with the background of the layout (such as the cloud, flowers), and add in text. The kanji you are seeing under essence is romanized as "Kagamine Len" who is a Vocaloid voice synthesizer, a very popular product outside of its original uses (creating music with a voice.) I actually really love Len as a lot of the characters that artists make him into (he has no solid personality since he's a Vocaloid) so this layout also pleases myself ;). A quick paragraph about myself; My name is Sandy and I am an aspiring writer so to speak. I am currently eighteen years old and am majoring in English and thinking about a double major or minor in Japanese. I also love to watch anime, jdramas, kdramas and the like, read manga, draw, dance, and learn foreign languages (such as Japanese, Korean, and Chinese) on the side.
